Raúl Calvoz is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Sine Qua Non. He previously
founded the Texas Education Review while pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Texas
at Austin. Raúl has published numerous scholarly articles in Constitutional Law and
Entrepreneurship. He also writes 昀椀ction under the pseudonym J.K. Franko.
Janelle Gray, Ph.D. serves as Managing Editor for Theory and Craft. She is a creative
writer and educator, with a portfolio encompassing prose, poetry, theater, and TV/昀椀lm.
Her research and interdisciplinary methodology explore connections between creative
works, history, and actions toward justice and equity in creative and academic spaces.
Matthew W. Baker, Ph.D. is the Managing Editor for Poetry. A poet and teacher at the
University of Texas at Dallas, his research focuses on contemporary American poetry,
aesthetics, and theories of space and place. He is the author of Undoing the Hide’s Taut
Musculature, and his poems have appeared in The Southern Review, Cimarron Review,
and Muzzle Magazine, among others.
Carmon Brandow, Ph.D. serves as Managing Editor for Prose. She holds dual master's
degrees in English and Creative Writing, and in Literature. With over twenty years of
experience as an educator in Texas, she currently serves as a Teaching Associate at the
University of Texas at Dallas. Carmon is an aspiring writer of children’s and young adult
literature, with a creative dissertation entitled Fairview: Exploring Regionalism and Girls'
Fiction.
