queer joy that include disapproving parents —as she does in “Pink Pony Club”—and stories
of desire that include roommates and twin beds—as she does in “Hot to Go.” We can share
our insights in ways that capture the complexity of our experience. We can be complex,
contradictory, and untidy.
Laura M. Martin resides in South Carolina where they teach writing at Lander
University. They are working on a memoir that explores queer identity. You can find their
