|e story began before you know the story had begun, because it began with the end
of the previous story which is hardly worth telling, hardly worth remembering even, were it
not the start of the story that you hope will be worth telling. You hope it will be well worth
telling.
When the girl came home with the stick in the vase, though, you did not know it was
the start of a story. You didn9t know it was the start of the end. You just knew that she had a
stick in a vase that she presented to you as a gift with enthusiasm you deemed unwarranted.
She said it was a Psychic Orchid that could only bloom under very specioc circumstances,
that it could only bloom in the presence of true, deep, real love.
